Why is my Merlyn Display remote not being recognised by my panel?

There are a couple of reasons why your Merlyn Display remote might not be talking to your panel. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to get them back on speaking terms:

  1. Re-pair the Remote:

This is the most common fix, so try it first. To re-pair your remote, follow these steps:

  • Press and hold the Freeze button and the Settings button on your remote at the same time for a few seconds. This will put the remote into pairing mode.
  • You should see the blue light on the remote flashing quickly.
  1. Unpair and Re-pair the Remote (if Re-pairing Doesn't Work):

If simply re-pairing doesn't do the trick, you might need to give them a clean break and start again. Here's how to unpair and then re-pair your remote:

  • Press and hold the Back button and the Chat button on your remote at the same time for a few seconds. This will unpair the remote from the panel.
  • The red light on the remote should flash quickly to show it's unpaired.
  • Now, follow the steps in section 1 to re-pair the remote.
  1. Check Batteries and Remote Functionality:
  • Make sure the batteries in your remote are fresh and fitted correctly. A remote with weak batteries can struggle to connect.
  • Ensure the USB dongle is plugged into the Android 3.0 port on your display.
  1. Contact Customer Support:

If you've tried all of these steps and your remote is still not working properly, then it's time to call in the cavalry. Get in touch with Merlyn customer support for further assistance. You can reach them by email at support@merlyn.com.
